What children practice
This puzzle uses square, bar, L-shape, T-shape and 2-block on a clearly outlined target area, with a difficulty score of 30 inside its age band.
The clearly outlined target area keeps the goal visible, so the child can focus on matching square, bar, L-shape, T-shape and 2-block pieces and trying a first turn.
Use this page to read the training focus, then open the play page and let the child set the pace.
What makes this one different: it does not ask for a perfect rectangle fill, so the target stays easier to read.
See What Changes When a Shape Turns? for a parent-readable look at that visible relationship.
Parent observation tip
Let your child choose the next piece on their own and try turning it against the clear outline, then ask what they noticed before helping.
Try it when...
Use this puzzle when your child is ready to try a readable Level 1 board and turn a shape before assuming it does not fit. Watch how your child chooses a first piece, tests a placement, and notices when a later piece does not fit.
Play the puzzle when you are ready
The parent note ends here. Your child can try the real board in their own way.
