What children practice

This puzzle uses u5, Z-shape, P-shape, T-shape, L-shape and bar on a tighter fill target, with a difficulty score of 78 inside its age band.

The tighter fill target leaves fewer forgiving placements, so the child needs to think about what each move leaves behind before committing.

The play page stays free of timers and scoreboards; this page just makes the training goal readable.

What makes this one different: among challenge puzzles in this age band it is the most demanding step, at 78/100. It also introduces five-square pentomino-style pieces.

See What Changes When a Shape Turns? for a parent-readable look at that visible relationship.

Parent observation tip

Ask whether the U or the P looks harder to place if it is left for last, then let your child choose the order and adjust it.

Try it when...

Use this puzzle when your child is ready to try a readable Level 1 board and turn a shape before assuming it does not fit. Watch how your child chooses a first piece, tests a placement, and notices when a later piece does not fit.

The parent note ends here. Your child can try the real board in their own way.
