What children practice

This puzzle uses P-shape, T-shape, Z-shape, L-shape, bar and 2-block on a tighter fill target, with a difficulty score of 70 inside its age band.

The tighter fill target leaves fewer forgiving placements, so the child needs to think about what each move leaves behind before committing.

No need to explain the geometry first — the board makes the training visible, one placement at a time.

What makes this one different: among challenge puzzles in this age band it is a mid-range step, at 70/100. It also introduces five-square pentomino-style pieces.

See What Changes When a Shape Turns? for a parent-readable look at that visible relationship.

Parent observation tip

Six pieces fill this board tightly; ask which space looks hardest to fill, and watch whether your child plans around the pentomino before placing.

Try it when...

Use this puzzle when your child is ready to try a readable Level 1 board and turn a shape before assuming it does not fit. Watch how your child chooses a first piece, tests a placement, and notices when a later piece does not fit.

The parent note ends here. Your child can try the real board in their own way.
