What children practice
This puzzle uses X-shape, F-shape, w5, n5, y5, u5, V-shape, longL5, Z-shape and T-shape on a tighter fill target, with a difficulty score of 86 inside its age band.
The tighter fill target leaves fewer forgiving placements, so the child needs to think about what each move leaves behind before committing.
Use this page to read the training focus, then open the play page and let the child set the pace.
What makes this one different: it may ask for one calm step back before the final pieces fit.
See What Changes When a Shape Turns? for a parent-readable look at that visible relationship.
Parent observation tip
Expect the solve to move back and forth; when a piece cannot fit, ask what earlier decision your child would revisit, then let them try again.
Try it when...
Use this puzzle when your child is ready to try a readable Level 1 board and turn a shape before assuming it does not fit. Watch how your child chooses a first piece, tests a placement, and notices when a later piece does not fit.
Play the puzzle when you are ready
The parent note ends here. Your child can try the real board in their own way.
